The Pappus

Thilak Kumar Pappu (M.Div.)

Founder/Director

Thilak Pappu was born and raised in a Hindu family in Kerala (South India). From the age of 8 years old, the pursuit of salvation drew him to many Hindu temples. Finally, he ended up in a Hindu Monastery where he studied under a Hindu Guru for 13 years. Through the ministry of Delhi Brethren Assembly in New Delhi, Thilak surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus Christ at age 22. Thilak came to the United States in 1986 to study business at Fresno Pacific College in California; his dream was to become a successful business man and live in the United States. Fortunately, the business college he attended was a Christian School and he got a chance to know more about his Savior Jesus Christ.

At the Urbana conference in 1987 Thilak received his call to serve the Lord when Dr. Billy Graham preached from the book of Isaiah, chapter six. Since then, Thilak discontinued his business studies and went to San Jose Bible College in San Jose, CA. Around the same time, he joined his brother Pushpan Pappu in serving Christ among the Hindus in the Bay Area. After graduating from the Bible College, Thilak went to Columbia Biblical Seminary for his M.Div. After graduating from Columbia Biblical Seminary in 1996, Thilak and his wife Liny (she is a member of the Indian Brethren Assembly in Bronx, NY) and three children came back to New Delhi to serve the Lord. For the next four years Thilak served the Lord as an evangelist with Delhi Brethren Assembly. In the year 2000, by the grace of God, he was able to start an Assembly in Gurgaon, Haryana where he and his family live. In the year 2005 Thilak was able to start another Hindi Assembly in Gurgaon.

Brother Thilak was commended by his home Assembly (Brethren Gospel Hall, Cheravally, Kayamkulam) on June 22, 1997 and currently serves with the Brethren Assembly in North India, particularly in New Delhi and  the NCR (National Capital Region).
